Thursday, June 20
Dr. Ajla Aksamija will present "Sustainable and High-Performance Facades: Design Methods, Analysis, and Case Studies". The presentation will cover methods for designing sustainable, high-performance facades, and the necessary steps in ensuring that the environmental factors and energy-efficiency strategies are integrated with the design process. The material covered in this course is a summary of Ajla's book Sustainable Facades: Design Methods for High-Performance Building Envelopes. Additionally, you can meet Ajla at the Wiley Publishing Booth (#3546) from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. for a book signing and a 50% discount on the retail price of the book.
Christopher Sciarrone will be a panelist for the session “Pro Bono Publico: Small, Mid-Size, and Large Firms Serving Society.” The panel and discussion will provide firms with the replicable protocols and procedures to implement a successful and sustainable internal framework particularly in light of a challenging economic climate. The discussion includes program leadership structure, integrating the work into firm culture, and rallying investment by leaders and staff alike. In addition the session will feature practical tools for administering the office's budget, setting up a contract and appropriate insurance, balancing staff availability with other project commitments, and a tracking system for projects.

Rosannah Sandoval, the AIA’s youngest registered architect and a designer at Perkins+Will, will introduce keynote speaker Cameron Sinclair, Co-Founder of Architecture for Humanity.
Saturday, June 22
Filo Castore will present “2013 COTE Top Ten Eco-Buildings and Communities.” This session will present the 2013 award recipients along with an overview of the design and sustainability goals that drove their projects and lessons learned.
Jeffrey Till will present a session titled “When Do We Shake Hands? Leading Architecture with Effective Building Analytical Modeling.” This session explores the roles and relationships between the architect and design team consultants in the context of building analytical modeling for high-performance design.
