Firm recognized for portfolio of work and involvement in the Miami community

The Miami office of global architecture and design firm Perkins+Will is pleased to announce that it has received the “Firm of the Year” Award from The American Institute of Architects (AIA) Miami Chapter. The award recognizes firms that have produced consistently exceptional design work over the course of the last 10 years and that have demonstrated a commitment to community service and education.

“We’re thrilled to be recognized as Firm of the Year, and it’s an honor we take very seriously,” said Pat Bosch, design director for the Miami office of Perkins+Will. “As architects and designers, our work goes beyond creating buildings and urban spaces that are pleasing to the eye; we have a responsibility to make our community a better, healthier, more sustainable place to live, work, play, heal and learn.”

Some of the firm’s civic highlights include pro-bono work with Miami Springs Historical Society Museum in designing their new space as well as assisting the Women’s Global Education Project for their community center in Senegal and involvement in the ACE Mentor Program with the Design and Architecture High School (DASH).

In addition to the Firm of the Year Award, Perkins+Will was also honored by AIA Miami for its outstanding team. Senior Project Manager Kricket Snow was awarded the Silver Medal for her continued support of the AIA / Miami mission, and for her service to the community in creating platforms for public discourse in architecture, urban planning, art and more. Gia Zapattini was named Young Architect of the Year, for her active participation with AIA, for her continued support for the ACE Mentor Program and community involvement raising the profile of AIA.

The Miami office for Perkins+Will began in 1996 and since then, the firm has transformed into a global design practice acting as a gateway to Latin America with currently more than 30 projects in South Florida and internationally ranging from pedagogical institutions to private offices. Prominent projects from Perkins+Will Miami has overseen include the Miami Dade College Kendall Campus, the American Express Headquarters in Sunrise, Florida and the Ghana Ridge Hospital.

“Receiving these three awards from AIA Miami—particularly Firm of the Year—is a tremendous honor, and we are grateful to be acknowledged for our continued commitment to social responsibility in architecture,” said Lawrence Kline, Managing Director of Perkins+Will’s Miami office. “We look forward to continuing to shape the urban landscape of this beautiful city we call home.”
