Perkins+Will’s San Francisco Office Launches Landscape Design Practice, Hires New Science and Technology Lead

Jennifer Cooper joins firm as landscape practice leader; Robert Bracamonte brings 30 years of experience to science and technology practice

Perkins+Will announced today that it has launched a landscape practice in its San Francisco office under the leadership of Jennifer Cooper, an award-winning landscape architect. Cooper will spearhead the creation of the new practice and expand the firm’s strong foundation in designing landscapes that reflect the unique, historic, cultural and environmental characteristics of the Bay Area.

“The drought, abundance of brownfield sites and industrial land in California provides significant opportunities and challenges for urban design,” said Managing Director Peter Busby. “Jennifer’s reputation and experience in designing the best and most thoughtful use of outdoor open spaces in our region makes her ideally suited to serve the West Coast market.”

Cooper brings with her 15 years of experience in both academic and professional landscape design. Prior to Perkins+Will, she worked on a variety of projects involving landscape revitalization, including her involvement in the EBL&S group’s, Station Park Green project a 12-acre transit-oriented development located in San Mateo, California. Station Park Green, a LEED-certified project, achieved Gold level certification. Additionally, Cooper managed a design team working on brownfield remediation and ecological restoration projects in her previous position at Great Ecology, Inc.

“I’m looking forward to working with the talented team at Perkins+Will,” Cooper said. “I’m confident that as we collaborate with scientists, urban designers, architects and innovators, we will create unique outdoor spaces that encourage public engagement in the Bay Area.”

Also joining the firm is Robert Bracamonte, one of the Bay Area's most respected architects and designers. Bracamonte brings with him over three decades of experience guiding science, technology, healthcare, and corporate clients through complex projects. Most recently, Bracamonte worked as a senior associate at NBBJ's San Francisco office. His past clients include Kaiser Permanente and Hewlett Packard.

“I’m excited to leverage my past experiences in a way that can help expand the firm’s science and technology practice while collaborating with Perkins+Will’s knowledgeable team to create innovative solutions for our clients in the Bay Area,” Bracamonte said.

Cooper and Bracamonte join Perkins+Will at a time of growth for the San Francisco office, which also recently announced its expanding healthcare practice under the leadership of Sharon Woodworth, and its growing interiors practice under the direction of Lisa Weeks.
