Ray is a principal and the Science + Technology market sector leader for our Texas practice. He has extensive background in research and development facilities design in public and private sectors and is nationally recognized for his work in high-containment facility design. Ray is a member of the International BSL-4 Users Group and has presented the UTMB/BSL-4 laboratory project in conjunction with the scientific meeting "Protection Against Microbial Threats" held at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. He has also presented related topics regarding biocontainment design at national conferences including the American Biological Safety Association, Laboratory Design and Tradeline. Ray served as a contributor for the recently published CDC/NIH 5th Edition of Biosafety in Microbiological and Biomedical Laboratories (BMBL), which has become the "cornerstone of biosafety practice and policy" in the United States since its first publication in 1984.
Ray is certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards and is a LEED accredited professional. Ray was recently elected to the American Institute of Architects College of Fellows. He is also a member of the the Texas Society of Architects, Rice Design Alliance, the American Biological Safety Association and Texas Branch of the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science.
