COMMUNITY HOSPITALS

The community hospital, as an independent entity, faces both challenges and opportunities in the evolving landscape of healthcare in the United States. Delivering community-based healthcare services is increasingly challenging: attracting/retaining experienced personnel, maintaining operating margins, facing aggressive competition, continually striving to efficiently provide more care while improving care quality. Add to that the mandate to improve population health and expand preventative care, and a new imperative emerges: to strengthen community engagement in order to meet patients’ needs for effective and relevant care while shifting services into less costly and more efficient care settings.
