Association House of Chicago
The Association House is a multifunctional and diverse social service organization that has been a valuable community resource in Chicago since 1899. This project involves the reorganization and renovation of 16,500 square feet of the first floor of a former hospital building. The primary scope includes designing a new reception lobby and entry experience to create a more lively and friendly image from the street. The first floor also includes new multipurpose classrooms for their out-of-school children’s programs as well as adult education rooms and new staff offices. Although not seeking LEED certification, many sustainable strategies were employed such as daylight harvesting.
