Our client wanted to accommodate 60-65 software engineers in their new Soho loft space and we were tasked with creating an office design befitting 24-26 year old “computer geeks”, fresh from Oxford and Cambridge. The new office concept is “a home away from home” and helps create connections and collaboration between the staff through a predominantly open plan workspace.

In line with the brief to create an office that would “make life easy and be a place to have fun”, each member of staff has their own foot scooter or Ripstik enabling them to move freely from desk to desk via the specially created scooter track, running round the open office area. A pool table and games area have also been incorporated to emphasise this message.

An open plan kitchen and bar area provide a social space where staff can benefit from a free beer and welcome friends and family to the office to share a free breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are also quiet rooms for staff to read and relax, large meeting areas and writable walls throughout the office to encourage spontaneous creativity. Sit to stand automated desks have also been incorporated in to the office space to allow staff to work flexibly.
