The project site is located on the northern end of the new city central axis. It consists of six towers landing on a podium surrounding the existing Khan Shatyr Tent. The Khan Shatyr is currently the highest peak on Astana’s skyline enclosing retail and entertainment space.

There project’s concept was framed by four major challenges. Firstly is to respond to the Khan Shatyr and to the urban context. This is accomplished by the careful positioning and massing of the towers with the intent of reinforcing the prominence of the tent and the city’s Master Plan axial focus.

Secondly, the project seeks to respond to the Kazak culture and national traditions while addressing the aspirations of a growing and emerging city.

The harsh climatic conditions required a sophisticated and highly insulating building enclosure and high-efficiency HVAC systems that will provide thermal comfort conditions year around with a reduce cost and carbon operational footprint.

The design components include the podium for parking and services, a luminous lantern for retail space, bridges connecting the lantern’s program to the Khan Shatyr, and residential and office towers landing on the podium.
