Major Implant Medical Device Manufacturer
Square Footage: 1,200,000
Before designing the new 1.2 million square foot headquarters offices for a major implant device manufacturer, we conducted a six-month workplace planning effort to strategize the consolidation of employees from multiple sites. The client's ultimate goal was an environment that brings employees together, fosters innovation and increases speed to market for new products. To accomplish this, the design had to enhance communication and collaboration of product-based teams and provide amenities that balance work and life to encourage peak performance. Flexibility in planning and leading-edge technology integration was imperative to the company's success.
An ideal work environment to promote productivity evolved from the inside-out by incorporating a user-centered approach. Through a series of leadership interviews, focus groups, surveys and site observation, the team developed a planning approach that leveraged connectivity to achieve performance targets.
The planning resulted in the development of a multi-tower campus design linked on all levels by a shared common activity hub and circulation pathways that provide convenient points for collaborative meetings and casual conversation. Natural daylight, team rooms and gathering spaces support cross-functional project development and strengthen the goal of campus connectivity. Feedback from employees indicates that the new space exceeds their expectations.
