Saskatoon North Downtown Master Plan

City of Saskatoon

Project Info
Saskatoon North Downtown Master Plan
Completion Date: December 2013
Size: 240 acres (97 hectares)

Working with the City of Saskatoon, Perkins+Will is developing a masterplan to transform a former brownfield area in Saskatoon’s North Downtown into a model of sustainable city building.

Presenting an extraordinary opportunity to create a highly-livable city, the masterplan serves as an expression of the local culture while also enabling residents to pursue sustainable lifestyle choices. Currently under development and undergoing extensive consultation with the City and public, the masterplan sets out to create a sustainable community that minimizes immediate and long-term impacts on the environment.

Proposing an increase in density and mix of uses, and a pedestrian / cycling friendly street network, the masterplan will ensure the North Downtown becomes an active, inclusive and economically viable hub for living and working that contributes to a thriving City Centre and Downtown. Celebrating the distinct spirit of Saskatoon, the plan will early on seek to create a vibrant place that is reflective of the City’s culture and history.
