This centre provides a new identity and direction for athletics on campus. Representing the current trend in collegiate athletic centres, it has become a destination for students, graduates, faculty, staff, and community members. The centre raises awareness of the programs, encourages participation, and integrates wellness into daily life.

The centre is full of state-of-the-art recreation spaces—a double gymnasium with folding spectator seating, a fitness centre a three-lane running track, sports medicine facility, and aquatic centre—all under one roof.

An important goal of the design was to foster an increased awareness of the University’s Athletics Department. Nothing says, “Join in!” better than the dramatic grand stairway that acts as a catalyst for the ongoing activities and events throughout the centre.
