Wake Forest University, Z. Smith Reynolds Library
Winston-Salem, North Carolina
The Z. Smith Reynolds Library (ZSR), an icon of the Wake Forest University campus, plays an essential role in helping students access information and develop critical thinking skills. Faculty members increasingly partner with librarians in their teaching and research, and students collaborate with their peers as education migrates towards a more learning-focused paradigm. The new ZSR library will greet visitors with a gracious entry portico and the light filled entrance will connect the visitor to the main atrium. This expansive hall will host the library’s consolidated service points in an easy-to-navigate hub of blended services. The new library will contain a spacious Reading Room, classrooms, a gallery, and an outdoor terrace with vistas overlooking the campus. Technology-enhanced classrooms, group rooms, and study zones will facilitate collaborative work while increasing access to digital resources.
