Richard Marshall, International Strategy Director at Perkins+Will, gave the keynote address at the Urban Land Institute Place Making Conference, in Philadelphia, PA on June 25th. Programming at the conference focused on what factors drive demand for new development, how and where new partners can be found, how deals are structured, and what elements contribute to truly successful places.
Marshall is an internationally recognized leader in large-scale development and urban design. He spoke about the elements that create a sense of “place” including cutting edge architecture, the beauty of innovative design, and incorporating art into public spaces.
Richard Marshall’s demonstrated design leadership coupled with his experience on architectural and urban design projects all over the world have made him an asset to Perkins+Will’s global strategy team. Marshall has served as Associate Professor and Director of Urban Design Degree Programs at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design, Adjunct Professor in Urban Design at Tongji University in Shanghai, and more recently, as Adjunct Professor in Architecture at the University of Technology, Sydney in Australia. He has written numerous articles on urban development, planning, and design, and is the author of four books.
