Alex is the Vancouver office’s K-12 Education practice leader. Since joining the firm in 2005, he has demonstrated his strength and capability on a variety of project types in addition to schools, including university facilities, government projects, high-rise residential towers, heritage restorations, and pedestrian bridges. He oversaw the award-winning Pitt River Middle School and has worked at all scales, from the one room Peregrine House Montessori pre-school to student housing at the University of Victoria to campus master plans of St. George’s School and Crescent School.

As one of the first in Perkins+Will to receive Certified Passive House Designer designation, Alex sees the building standard as a proven method for the design and construction of quiet, comfortable, healthy, durable buildings of all sizes and for almost any use.

Alex also coordinates the office’s pro bono work. Perkins+Will has established a firm-wide Social Purpose program in support of our commitment to the 1+ Program of Public Architecture. Current and past clients include Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House, Gordon Neighbourhood House, Potluck Café and Catering, Atira Women’s Resource Society, the Downtown Eastside Neighbourhood House, and the Elizabeth Fry Society of Greater Vancouver.
