Amy Williams

AIA, LEED AP
Principal, Health, Minneapolis

Amy is a renowned and accomplished architect of hospitals and medical office buildings for leading medical systems. Amy has worked across a range of practices – healthcare, education, science, advanced technology, and civic markets – but she finds her calling in healthcare. She enjoys the size and complexity the building type offers, and she believes her work, and the work of her teams, can change lives for the better.

Growing up in a small community in Iowa, Amy learned early on the importance of access to quality healthcare and the value of patient and caregiver experience. She takes these early memories into her practice today and prioritizes healing and well-being in the spaces she designs. Her innovative planning ability leads design teams in a focused direction, while her fast and skillful organization allows them to continually explore new ways of resolving functional and programmatic demands with purpose. As a regional leader Amy works to elevate people, projects, and design impact.

Amy is a watercolor painter, a writer, and her greatest joy is watching her girls grow.

“I believe my work and the work of my teams' changes lives for the better. Whether it is a replacement hospital, an expansion, or a medical office building I believe these projects inspire medical professionals to do their best work and provide the best care.”

As the founder of Star Stunning, an online site dedicated to providing support and advice to working mothers, Amy recognizes the need for work/life balance in order to deliver her best work. She stays active with her twin daughters and has developed an interest in watercolor painting.

As an accomplished woman in the realm of healthcare design, Amy shares her experience with the future female leaders of our industry. She’s a frequent speaker and panelist at events like the AIA Los Angeles Women in Architecture Powerful Conference and the Women’s Leadership Conference.
