Jane Cameron

FAIA, LEED AP
Associate Principal, Chicago

Jane was born in Toronto and remains a Canadian citizen, but Chicago is her adopted home. Her career aspirations started at the age of 8; she and her dad were playing with Legos, and she asked what you call someone who builds buildings. He replied “an architect”, and from that moment on Jane has followed this dream.

Believing there’s never one way to solve a problem, she dives in to each project to understand the real issues. She is hands-on, keeping projects on track by rallying the team to reach common goals.

When initially laying out the pieces and trying to make sense of a project’s needs, she loves figuring out how it will all come together – even if it’s not apparent right away. Then comes the enormous effort by the team, and, eventually, the moment she knows that she and the team have zeroed in on the right solution. This is her greatest satisfaction.

FAVORITE PROJECTS
"A great recent project is the Simpson Querrey Biomedical Research Building for Northwestern University on their Chicago Campus. Not only will it be a lovely addition to the neighborhood with great spaces and views of the city, but the research going on inside is helping to find cures for pediatric and adult cancers."

Glenview Great Park
"Another favorite project is the Glenview Great Park which is on the site of the old Glenview Naval Station, north of Chicago. It is a large park for the residents of the village and contains playing fields, a children's garden, a fishing pier, bridges to an island, and a look out tower. We used lots of beautiful, natural materials — stone, wood, etc.—and it is a lovely amenity."
