Rong Lu

China National Class I Registered Architect
Principal, Shanghai

Rong’s childhood was never dull as she was curious about everything around her. She was particularly drawn to nature, art, dancing, and Ping Pong games. It was those childhood passions that finally led her to an architectural design career, something that is both artistic and fun.

After six years of design practice in China, Rong went to the United Kingdom to continue her academic pursuit. This multi-cultural learning experience helped connect the eastern and western thinking in her mind and her design. Later in 2006, Rong and her family moved to Copenhagen for three years. It was an important period of time to her as the democratic spirits and sustainable, life attitude the society embraces influenced her so greatly that reshapes her ways to see design and life.

She is a firm believer that design values are not all about design itself. It’s also about how design can benefit the society.

“As architects, we should have reverence for what we design and build. That’s something that drives us to excellence.”
