Admired as "cultural trailblazers" in television, A+E Networks is the umbrella global brand that encapsulates the History Channel, A&E, Lifetime, FYI and CI channels and programming. Perkins+Will's workplace strategy and re-design of A+E's space was an opportunity to bring together separate offices and areas of the business into one unified EMEA headquarters that captures the energy and creativity of the staff.
The people of A+E Networks are at the core of the company’s success and as such, staff engagement was key to the project. We crafted the workplace brief based on a series of focus groups with a cross section of staff from all departments. A+E Networks have moved to a fully agile model where no desk is owned and all spaces are shared. We have worked with user groups to ensure the right mix and variety of spaces are created to work for each facet of the business.
The design concept was to create architecture that will change with the business. A+E Networks could launch as many as two shows per month, and the space needed facilitate storytelling presentation in a unique but flexible way. Opportunities for digital signage, static graphics, prop installations, and flood promo experiences are incorporated within the design to allow the user to turn their "blank set" into a "dressed set" (and vice versa) quickly.
