We designed a 320,000 square foot contemporary office environment and 950-car parking structure for the CDC's Chamblee campus. The first of a three-phase office expansion, the unique and efficient configuration of the office building and parking deck defines the future expansion strategy for the campus. The introduction of public plazas and promenades unite a series of disparate structures and link them with an adjacent woodland amenity.
The office building and parking provides facilities for 900 employees including a data center, credit union and conference facility with access to terraced outdoor plazas. A full-service cafeteria with a dramatic main dining hall expressed as a prominent architectural feature is also included in this phase. Views and linkages to the natural site amenities around the perimeter of the site are maximized while facilitating a future academic quadrangle at the interior of campus. Future phases will introduce new amenities with a similar strategy.
Structural and architectural design features include cast in place concrete, masonry veneer and curtainwall cladding systems that meet secure, blast-resistant building structure and envelope design criteria. Designed with sustainable building strategies, the project received LEED NC Gold certification.
