CF Pacific Centre Entrance Redevelopment
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
Square Footage: 24,000
Perkins+Will was commissioned to design a new entrance to the Pacific Centre Mall in the heart of downtown Vancouver. The new building will replace the existing rotunda and revitalize an underutilized public plaza.
The proposed building is intended to activate and re-establish the street edge on the city’s ceremonial street West Georgia.
Opportunities to engage the public realm are expressed through vitrines and terraces—engaging the public on the street and in the adjacent future plaza on a grand scale.
Several enhancements are proposed to establish a connection to nature in the downtown core. Street-level planted areas with integrated seating, an extensive planted wall, and a landscaped outdoor terrace increase urban biodiversity. Vegetated green roofs provide a visual interest for neighboring towers.
Sustainable strategies include the use of redundant heating and cooling capacity from existing building systems.
