ColumbiaDoctors relocated its flagship 100,000 square foot (9,290 square meter) midtown Manhattan practice to a single-tenant floor in a high-rise commercial building. The space includes faculty practice, diagnostic and interventional radiology, laboratories, and support spaces for a fully integrated, multiple specialty medical practice. A new dedicated public entrance and elevators bring patients from street level to the third floor location, while staff use the main commercial building entry and elevator core. A 3-story communicating stair associated with the new main entrance supports active design.
Practices are organized along a central spine, with individual waiting areas that express unique practice identities through art, color, design, and furnishings. At the same time, modular planning permits flexible scheduling of space and sessional uses. The space planning prioritizes access to daylight.
A cohesive ColumbiaDoctors image is communicated with timeless, refined detailing reminiscent of the international-style building that houses the project. The result is a destination Manhattan ambulatory facility with an interior that provides a soothing experience for the sophisticated healthcare consumer. The warm, natural materials and lighting highlight the significant artwork, on permanent loan from the JP Morgan Chase collection.
