Perkins + Will was part of a team engaged to create a Station Area Master Plan for the incorporation of high speed rail, expanded commuter rail, bus service and a new BART station at the existing San Jose Diridon Train Station Following upon that effort, Perkins + Will was asked to collaborate with the California High Speed Rail Authority in the development of visual design guidelines for the California high speed train infrastructure throughout the entire city. Part of this broad design effort included building upon our earlier Station Area Master Plan work to create an architectural vision for the new iconic Diridon rail station. The project scope included extensive community workshops with a variety of stakeholders, the development of
detailed graphic design guidelines for the station area, station structure and elevated and at-grade rail track, and the creation of several preliminary station concepts.
