Drew High School
Square Footage: 300,000
Drew High School is designed to optimize the balance between a large high school and small learning communities. It is divided into four learning communities that include a 9th grade academy with its own dining commons and administrative offices and three learning communities that support a variety of magnet programs. Highly visible career tech labs are located at the front of each learning community along the building's main circulation spine, thus showcasing a curriculum that, in the past, had been relegated to back-of-house spaces. Career tech labs in this building include culinary arts, engineering, health occupations and law and justice. Assistant principals and support services are distributed throughout these academies for easy support. The design of this supportive and specialized environment helps facilitate Drew High School's call to action, "Today we learn, tomorrow we lead."
