Gyro, a rapidly expanding global advertising agency, wanted to create an office space that would reflect their creative culture, values, and celebrate the context of their new office located in the historic Wrigley Building. Perkins+Will’s workplace design for this project supports Gyro’s work style, where open collaboration fosters the best thinking: “No offices. No barriers. No limits.”

This partial floor build-out includes a large reception hub, which reflects gyro's open and collaborative culture. Flexible studio space allows for panoramic views and access to natural light. Employees are offered many types of meeting spaces, which ultimately provide choice of how and where to work.

Inspired by Chicago’s historic architecture and natural beauty, key design elements pay homage to the Second City’s iconic grid system, steel bridge construction, and the Chicago River. The Great Chicago Fire of 1871 inspired the use of charred wood in the reception area, and an art installation titled “Ignite,” provides a reference to gyro’s “ignition” branding. The bold black and white pallet and use of graphic messaging transforms gyro’s digital brand story into their built space.

Despite the very aggressive six month project schedule, the design team delivered a workplace that, in the client’s own words, “showed tremendous vision” and “exceeded our most demanding expectations."
