The Institute for Systems Biology is a research institute dedicated to the integration of technology, computation, biology and medicine. The Institute selected an existing four-story building located in Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood for their corporate headquarters. The project incorporates spaces for lab, vivarium, lab support, core facilities, office, and office support. The first level houses a large seminar space and an adjacent cafe/meeting area with seating for 300 for formal seminars. Each of the third and fourth floors contain several labs, lab support spaces, core facilities and offices for computers and researchers. The institute shares their space with startups in an open and collaborative lab environment.
