This new campus offers a flexible and agile workplace environment designed to support their key business imperatives of growth, best talent, simplification, and innovation and financial health. It includes a new 165,000 square foot building connected underground to the existing 211,000 square foot headquarters (an AIA MN 25 Year Award winner) and an existing Research and Development building.
Through a rigorous data collection and visioning process, a new model for the workplace was developed allowing Land O’Lakes to accommodate their growth in less space while dramatically increasing the availability of work settings designed to support the diverse work needs of its employees. The new workplace offers choice and flexibility for its occupants, allowing Land O’Lakes to grow and continue as an innovative leader in the agriculture industry.
The new building includes three stories of flexible workplace over a plinth of new amenities, including reception space, credit union, childcare area, medical clinic, corporate workout facilities, a flexible meeting space, and conference center and support functions. The existing building has also been renovated to accommodate this new workplace strategy and includes a renovated cafeteria, test kitchens, a recently renovated conference center, and a primary visitor entrance to the campus.
The project has earned LEED NC Platinum and includes rainwater harvesting for irrigation, photovoltaic panels, a dedicated outdoor air system, a high-performance building envelope, and extensive daylighting.
