Perkins+Will is providing architectural and engineering consulting services to design, construct, furnish and equip a new Clinical Sciences Building for Minnesota State University in Mankato, Minnesota. The project scope includes a new 57,500 GSF classroom and laboratory building, and renovation of 21,775 GSF of vacant and occupied space will begin after construction and occupancy of the new facility. This multi-functional facility is designed to engage medical education students in meaningful ways and enhance the positive public identity of the University within the community.

Located on the perimeter of campus, this building will house multiple clinical services departments involved in student education and create opportunities for hands-on experience with patients from the surrounding community. Intended to be a “one-stop-shop” for clinical patients and a state-of-the-art teaching environment for students, the new facility will create an educational home for the College of Allied Health and Nursing; and centralize the Dental Hygiene and Speech, Hearing & Rehabilitation Services (SHRS) departments.

Shared classrooms, meeting rooms and student/faculty interaction space will provide students from all departments with a variety of learning environments and opportunities to interact with their peers and mentors. Simulation centers, teaching laboratories and clinical space for these departments will engage students and faculty with the larger community while simultaneously creating unique learning experiences.
