Perkins+Will serves as planners, urban designers and architects to the San Francisco Giants as they move to create an entirely new dynamic, public destination neighborhood directly at the intersection of Mission Creek and San Francisco Bay.
The proposal to replace vacant Lot A with a dense, lively, mixed-use district creates approximately 1500 new rental homes with 40% affordable for lower and middle-income individuals and families. Also in them mix are offices and a lively retail district including dining, neighborhood retail and services with an emphasis on local food retailers and restaurants. Finally a working waterfront street invites local “makers” bringing their production and sales to enliven the edge.
Located adjacent to a new light rail line and emerging transit-oriented neighborhoods, the Perkins+Will design includes 8 acres of public open space including a 5-acre park with a shoreline walkway and great lawn that can function as a major outdoor amphitheater, and vibrant town square located within the heart of the development. A refurbished historic pier will be the expanded home for Anchor Brewing and include a contiguous open space extending from the park
