The Halbert-Walling Research Center and the Onstead Science Center will have almost incalculable effects–not only on the science programs it houses and their students, faculty and staff, but on the university as a whole. This project will transform this part of campus. Students will seek the destination in the McGlothlin Quad where they collaborate and interact with science as well as view student work, which will be displayed outdoors. The Onstead building will showcase the latest work and research to the entire University, it will become the stage for science and research developments. These buildings will have state-of-the-art laboratories for Biology, Chemistry, Physics/Engineering and Mathematics Departments. The interdisciplinary building with enhance the education experience, allowing for collaboration that might not otherwise occur. The addition of an innovative, world-class facility for the study of science will advance ACU’s academic reputation and attract more talented students and faculty, enacting a virtuous cycle in which the reputation of the science program grows as the talent within it increases. The Halbert-Walling Research Center will contain spaces for community and connection. It will foster a culture that embraces discovery, innovation and collaboration, and better allow ACU to fulfill its mission of educating students for Christian service and leadership throughout the world. In short, investment in a new science complex will pay back dividends across the globe for generations to come, and it will change forever the life, culture and students of ACU.
