Once completed, Réseau Express Métropolitain (REM) will be one of the largest automated transportation system in the world after Singapore, Dubai, and Vancouver. For the metropolitan area, the REM also represents the largest public transportation infrastructure since the Montréal metro, inaugurated in 1966.
Perkins+Will is responsible for lead station concept design, architecture, industrial and urban design in collaboration with local team members Lemay and Bisson Fortin Architects. The firm is engaged on individual station design and overall design oversight through construction to completion of the project.
Perkins+Will’s scope includes overall station concept design and kit-of-parts for the entire 27 stations on the 67 km (41.6 mile) line during a competitive Public Private Partnership bid process. The team was identified as the preferred proponent for the project in November of 2018 with expected completion in 2024.
