Completion Date: 2012
Square Footage: 40,000

Resurrection Health Care relocated their Resurrection University nursing school from its former suburban Oak Park location to the Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. Perkins+Will’s design work included a complete renovation of floors 6-8 including partial work on floors 1 and 10 with full elevator modernization. The project contains an interactive student library, classrooms, seminar rooms, conference rooms and tutorial space. Administration / faculty office space and a modernized cafeteria were included.

A high-tech simulation lab provides a setting for key components of the university’s curriculum. The lab accommodates up to eight separate patient- or exam-room settings and provides for easy change of equipment and utilities for medical/surgical units or examination room settings. The simulator is strategically located within the school for easy and seamless integration with classroom activity.

Outside of the medical center, renovation of the existing 453-space parking structure and 117-space surface parking lot increases parking capacity, and new landscaping and ornamental fencing were utilized to refresh the facility’s appearance.
