Sustainability Certifications (LEED, BREEM, etc.): Pursuing Passive House Certification
The Soo Valley Demonstration Homes embody an approach to building a future alpine settlement in the Coastal Mountains of British Columbia. Designed as passive houses, the buildings will consume one quarter of energy of equal code-compliant buildings, and provide outstanding comfort. As an off-grid project, the buildings use the sun as their primary energy source—a combination of a photovoltaic system producing electricity and solar thermal system producing hot water. A highly efficiency heat recovery system treats ventilation air and harvests heat from waste water.
