Robert Van Lin, Toronto/Ottawa Studio Operations Director

Robert has recently been promoted to the role of Operations Director for our Toronto/Ottawa studio in a unanimous decision between local Principals and Firmwide leaders.

Since he began his career at Perkins&Will as a student, Robert has earned the trust and respect of the studio in Toronto and Ottawa over the years as a leader exerting positive influence, entrepreneurial strategic thinking, and high accountability. He has worked on large government buildings, workplace modernization, sports & recreation, and buildings for science & technology. Robert’s background in construction administration created a robust foundation for his balanced approach, which is both creative and pragmatic. Robert is passionate about teamwork and collaborating with clients, consultants, contractors, and tradespeople. In the studio, he loves mentoring young professionals. Robert has an analytical approach, using data to drive the success of projects and teams.

“Robert is a very well-rounded architect who has acted in design, management, and client engagement roles on some of our most complex projects,” said D’Arcy Arthurs, Managing Director of our Toronto/Ottawa studio. “He knows and serves our mission, business, and client base with equal rigor and enthusiasm. Big picture or project particulars, he has it covered. We are very excited to have Robert join our Practice Directors table as a trusted peer and advisor and look forward to future success with him.”

This new appointment solidifies Robert’s key role in the community of project managers, providing strategic insight to staffing decisions and process improvement. He practices architecture in both of Canada’s official languages.

“As an Architect and Project Manager who has developed most of my professional career with Perkins&Will, I couldn’t feel more supported to dig into the Operations Director role. This shift represents an exciting transition for us to continue to work with our diverse clients and teams in realizing healthy projects.”
