Lauren Mereness

RID, NCIDQ, LEED AP ID+C
Associate Principal, Branded Environments, Dallas

Design has always been part of Lauren’s life. Her father is an architect, and she turned that early influence into a career in interior design, inspired by the idea that a purposeful, personalized space can improve daily life. After more than a decade helping grow our interiors practice, she brought her entrepreneurial mindset to Branded Environments. She helped build and expand a two-person team, turning added-service into a strategic, multidisciplinary partner embedded at each step of a project.

Lauren’s early-integration approach is based in her belief that design is one story, and that architecture, interiors, and brand tell it best together. She is, above everything, curious about people, and the desire to tell their story well has motivated her entire career. Having worked across all types of projects, she knows every client’s world is distinct, and she digs deep into research to understand that world before building a systematic approach to express it meaningfully.

Good design builds a connection with people, creating a place to belong. It resonates at a deep, human level.”

Welcoming One and All

The Tarrant County College Southeast Campus had outgrown itself. With narrow hallways, limited gathering space, and little incentive for students to linger before or after class, it hosted space for instruction and instruction alone. With the idea that community is a boon to education, our renovation threaded two buildings together to create a social spine on campus. Lauren and the Branded Environments team wove TCC’s identity into every touchpoint: bold color activating circulation zones, the school’s values and mascot grounding key gathering spaces, and messaging like “You Belong Here” reminding the many first-generation students, working parents, and lifelong learners that they are welcome. It’s a powerful shift for a school where students live off campus and a sense of belonging isn’t a given.
