Joshua Rubin

AIA, LEED AP BD+C
Associate Principal, Washington, D.C.

Joshua is a Technical Director in our Washington, D.C. studio with deep expertise in quality control, constructability, specifications, and the technical delivery of complex projects. His portfolio includes interior architecture, institutional and commercial projects, and building envelope detailing, with a focus on aligning design intent, technical performance, and execution. He is particularly adept at helping teams navigate complexity, resolve risk early, and produce documentation that is both design-driven and buildable.

With a rigorous and highly collaborative approach, Joshua brings clarity to the decisions that most directly affect project success. He understands how coordination, detailing, and technical alignment influence not only constructability, but also design quality, schedule, and long-term performance. By connecting broad project goals to the realities of execution, he helps teams deliver work that is thoughtful, precise, and resilient.

Joshua also views mentorship as a core responsibility of leadership. A teacher at heart, he is dedicated to supporting the growth of emerging architects and designers, helping them develop stronger technical instincts and greater confidence in their work. His commitment to shared knowledge and professional development strengthens both project teams and studio culture.

Good design is only as strong as its execution. My role is to help teams align vision, performance, and constructability from the start.
