AJ Montero

Originally from Cuba, Montero’s Hispanic heritage shaped his approach to design, including his belief that the best projects are the result of an inclusive process that supports people of diverse backgrounds. Today, he is an international health practice leader, having designed, directed, and managed the development of complex building projects for some of the world’s top healthcare institutions, including Cleveland Clinic, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, Moffitt Cancer Center, and Ministry of Health Kuwait.

AJ’s commitment to designing stronger communities expands beyond his professional life. He serves on the board of the Columbus College of Art and Design, where he mentors the next generation of design talent, and he’s an adjunct professor at The Ohio State University Knowlton School of Architecture, where over the last two decades he has taught several architectural design studios. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Cornell University. In his personal time, AJ is an avid reader, studies history, and is a parent to two sets of teenage twins.
