Paul Dunphy
Paul is a technical design director and senior associate who has always been drawn to architecture. As a youngster, sketching his way through complex ideas, he found clarity translating ideas from his imagination onto paper and watching them come to life. This is a skill he has nurtured through his career-leading him to work across a breadth of challenging and dynamic projects.
Paul‘s experience started in Birmingham, with a focus on higher education campuses, football stadiums, and commercial projects. His expertise and ambition soon took him to London, where he continued to refine his approach to the design and delivery of commercial architecture. Over the years, he has become a self-described “advanced generalist,” having successfully delivered projects that span Perkins&Will’s broad offering. His deep expertise in navigating the construction challenges of both new build and adaptive transformation schemes has enabled him to successfully deliver projects across the UK and internationally, spanning a diverse range of building types. However, it is the complexity of scale that truly inspires him-projects like Goldman Sachs, where size, paired with a demand for intricacy, pushed him to think innovatively, further enhancing his skillset and capabilities.
For Paul, success isn’t defined by a single moment but by a series of milestones-those “aha” moments when everything clicks, and the project starts to take shape to meet both client expectations and the architectural vision. He thrives on collaboration, valuing the small wins, shared knowledge, and building trust with clients along the way.
