We are proud to announce that Kathy Wardle, Principal and Canadian Director of Regenerative Design, has been elected to the Canadian Green Building Council (CAGBC) Board of Directors for a three-year term, fulfilling the Professional Firm seat (Architecture practice).
Kathy possesses over two decades of experience in spearheading regenerative design and firmwide sustainability initiatives, policy, and strategy. She leads a multidisciplinary team dedicated to advancing project performance, ensuring projects are healthy, resilient, and low carbon. Kathy collaborates with a diverse range of clients, including private developers, institutions, and civic organizations to achieve project objectives while advocating for change within the green building sector.
In her capacity at Perkins&Will, Kathy also directs several sustainability and research initiatives and has been instrumental in the development and implementation of three consecutive sustainability strategic plans, along with the firmwide Green Operations Plan and decarbonization policy. Kathy has advised on the firm’s Switch List, Embodied Carbon Benchmarking Report, and the Embodied Carbon Primer, all aimed at building awareness amongst clients and project teams.
Currently, Kathy leads the firm’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting efforts and was pivotal in delivering Perkins&Will’s inaugural Building Momentum ESG Report. Through her role on Sidara Group’s Sustainability Leadership Council, of which Perkins&Will is a member, she has represented Perkins&Will at a global level, participating at COP 27 and 28 Climate Summits, and at two international forums hosted by the World Green Building Council.
A distinguished LEED Fellow and recipient of the CAGBC National Green Building Champion award, Kathy is a driver of change and committed to transforming the building industry through education and advocacy. In this important role, Kathy will bring to the Board immense green building expertise and will support the CAGBC’s mission to advance low-carbon, resilient, and healthy green buildings.
