Antares Capital

Chicago, Illinois
Connected by the Skyline

High above 320 South Canal, Antares Capital’s workplace is shaped by its vantage point – where sweeping views of the Chicago skyline and Lake Michigan inform both experience and organization. For a firm defined by a long-term partnership and performance, the design translates culture into space, supporting connection, clarity, and growth. Guided by the concept Connected by the Skyline, a sculptural three-story stair anchors the workplace, aligning movement, light and program into a cohesive, people-centered environment.

The workplace is a physical expression of how Antares operates: connected, long term, and designed to support collaboration and wellbeing. It achieves LEED Gold and sets a new standard for Antares’ future.

Three-story stair creates a vertical commons, connecting their workplace community through light, movement, and shared experience.
A Vertical Commons

At the core of the project, the stair reimagines circulation as social infrastructure. Rising through three levels, it links shared amenities and establishes a vertical commons that brings people into visual and physical connection throughout the day. Encounters that might otherwise be incidental become part of the larger pattern of exchange, supporting mentorship, collaboration, and a shared sense of culture. The integration of life-safety systems in carefully resolved within the architecture, preserving the clarity and continuity of the design while meeting the demands of code.

A sculptural stair serves as the social spine of the workplace, encouraging movement, visibility, and chance encounters.
Orangized by the Horizon

The workplace unfolds as a sequence of spaces shaped by their relationship to the skyline. A reception floor, open and outward-facing, frames expansive views and sets a tone of openness and welcome. Above, a cafe and flexible training suite support gathering, learning, and firmwide engagement. Below, a more intimate lounge offers space for informal connection. Together, these environments create a layered experience, balancing energy and focus while reinforcing a sense of continuity across levels.

A contemplative rock garden introduces moments of calm and reflection, balancing the energy of the dynamic workplace.
Light, Material, and Performance

Perimeter planning draws daylight deep into the floorplate, establishing a bright and visually connected environment. Transparency and open sightlines extend views across the workplace, while a restrained palette of warm, tactile materials introduces depth and calm. Sustainability is embedded throughout, with the project achieving LEED Gold certification through efficient systems, responsible material choices, and strategies that support occupant wellbeing. The result is a workplace that reflects how Antares operates—connected, adaptable, and designed for long-term performance.
