Chou Hall at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, designed by our San Francisco studio, has been honored by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) Pacific Region with a Building Health Leadership Award for its extraordinary commitment to sustainability and well-being.
The Building Health Leadership Award recognizes built environments that rigorously consider occupant health during project planning, take strategic action to promote health and well-being through building certifications, and commit to measuring impact—while going above and beyond standard practices.
“The environmentally conscious and sustainable design of Chou Hall, combined with our efforts to achieve LEED Platinum Certification, TRUE Zero Waste Platinum Certification, and WELL Silver Certification, led to the great honor of being named the greenest academic building in the country,” says Courtney Chandler, chief strategy and operating officer at Haas. “In many ways, this beautiful building reflects the school’s vision of true business leadership: It’s high-performing, environmentally responsible, and designed for state-of-the-art learning.”.
The Building Health Leadership Award celebrates green building projects that focus on promoting health and well-being throughout all phases of building development and operation.
