We are saddened by the passing of Claude Provencher this past week. A pioneer of modern urban architecture, Claude’s work will be an eternal contribution to the life and quality of many Canadian cities.
Claude prioritized the human experience. He sought to transform society to create living environments that respect citizens and the built environment through inclusive, meaningful, and sustainable architecture.
He was our friend, collaborator, and trusted partner, most recently while working on the renewal of Place du Portage III in Gatineau, Quebec. The project exemplifies Claude’s passion for urban design, how buildings integrate with their landscape, public art, and interiors.
We cherished the opportunity to work alongside him during his participation in juries, volunteer committees, and design education. He gave generously to our profession, and we will remember him always.
Our thoughts are with our friends and colleagues at Provencher_Roy and with Claude’s family.
