In Their Own Words: Zena Howard, A Personal Journey

The journey toward the design and completion of the NMAAHC has been immensely rewarding.

For Zena—one of only 0.02 percent of female African American architects in the U.S.—the journey toward the design and completion of the National Museum of African American History and Culture has been immensely rewarding, both personally and professionally.

In the following Perkins&Will video series, In Their Own Words, we invite you to join Zena on her journey as she recounts—in her own words—her childhood, her first-hand experience with racism and how she rose above it a young age, her views on past and current events, and her feelings about the NMAAHC and all that it represents.
