Perkins&Will has named Ryan Forster as technical director of its Minneapolis studio, overseeing quality assurance, constructability, and code compliance across the studio. Ryan, a senior project architect, has worked with the firm for more than 18 years.
As technical director, Ryan will serve as the studio’s resident expert in state and local building and energy codes, constructability means and methods, and Perkins&Will’s Living Design framework—which elevates craft, sustainability, and design for the greater good. He is well-versed in all phases of project design and delivery, including establishing project goals and programmatic requirements, performing site analysis, schematic design through construction documents, and the coordination of field and construction services.
“I’ve always been equally interested in both the art and science of design, so this role suits me,” says Ryan, whose work encompasses corporate, commercial, education, healthcare, civic, and aviation projects. “Architecture blends creativity and pragmatism. As Technical Director, one of my responsibilities is finding ways to balance beautiful design and practical solutions. It’s both challenging and rewarding when we land on the right solution for our clients.”
Ryan’s ability to communicate, collaborate, and coordinate with contributors across the design and construction team members results in projects that consistently achieve and exceed client goals.
