Tahoe Blue Event Center Celebrates Ribbon Cutting, A Game-Changing Venue on the South Shores of Lake Tahoe

Tahoe Blue Event Center, a premier sports and live entertainment destination, is poised to energize and enhance the south side of the California/Nevada resort city.

STATELINE—The southern shores of Lake Tahoe, a year-round resort destination, is welcoming the Tahoe Blue Event Center, a dynamic new destination set to enhance the regions entertainment offerings and cater to both the local community and visiting tourists. Designed by global architecture and design firm Perkins&Will in collaboration with Design Workshop and International Coliseums Company, the 5,000-seat event center will begin hosting concerts, sporting events, conferences, and more on September 29.

“The feedback I’ve received from everyone I’ve spoken with locally has been overwhelmingly positive,” says Jon Williams, technical coordinator. “The project has endured some major hurdles, including the pandemic, fires, record snowfalls, longer lead times, environment restrictions and regulations, and cost escalations; the excitement has been building as the opening nears.”

Enhancing Tourism, Economy, and Community Life

Located in Stateline, the new Event Center sits on the Nevada side of South Lake Tahoe within the high-density tourist district. It will serve as a key anchor to the south shore, helping to drive visitors during the shoulder seasons as well as creating jobs for residents.

Outside of concerts and events, the new multi-purpose facility will include an adjacent outdoor gathering space, parking lots and driveways, multimodal and pedestrian circulation capabilities, and state-of-the-art stormwater treatment facilities. The facility and its capabilities respond to the objectives identified in the South Shore Vision Plan, which include revitalizing the built environment, animating the street with retail and dining, and providing aesthetic and environmental enhancements to the area’s market.

Amenities and Design

The building’s footprint covers approximately 88,420 square feet, encompassing a total of 135,000 square feet across the multiple floors. The ground level features fixed and telescopic seating arranged in a horseshoe configuration, surrounding the event stage. Outside of the event space, visitors will be able to navigate the concourse which offers a host of amenities, including entry vestibules, restrooms, a variety of concession options, and ticketing services. Additionally, the essential support and storage facilities are located on the ground level, conveniently accessed via external loading and service bays. These facilities are thoughtfully located behind the building on Lake Parkway’s elevation, screening it from view during concerts and events. The second level includes fixed loge seating, 13 suites, press boxes, spectator concourse, support facilities, meeting rooms, conference space, offices, and restrooms.

“It has been a pleasure collaborating with Design Workshop and ICC to bring a distinctive events center to the Tahoe region,” said Shawn Adams, project manager and associate. “The iconic design welcomes visitors coming south on Highway 50, marking South Lake Tahoe’s entrance. I am excited for its grand opening and for all to enjoy the many functions the events center can provide.”
