The Association of University Research Parks (AURP) honored The University of Utah Research Park with the ‘Outstanding Research Park/Innovation District’ Award during the AURP 2020 Conference on Friday. Our San Francisco and Austin studios have been working with the University of Utah Research Park (UURP) since 2019leading a Strategic Vision to transform the district into a next generation innovation community.

The 320-acre site is adjacent to the University of Utah’s main academic campus and the University Hospital. The Strategic Vision champions transit-oriented development, a diverse mix of uses, stateoftheart sustainable infrastructure, and forward-thinking leadership, to ensure that Salt Lake City becomes one of the greenest, most inclusive, and economically viable cities in the country.

“Their creativity, outside the box thinking, detailed eye, broad spectrum of in-house subject matter experts, but also a great willingness to partner with others who may add credibility or expertise make the Perkins&Will team an ideal partner on this project,” says Jonathan Bates, Executive Director, Real Estate Administration at The University of Utah. “The team values sustainability, vibrancy, versatility in design. They also value embracing the community and ensure good stakeholder outreach. These are all values that our University shares as well.

Congratulations to the project team on this honor!
