Helen Wang

Helen’s multicultural background, born to an architect parent in Shanghai and with experience in New York, Singapore, and Shanghai, informs her design approach in every project. She has led various architectural and interior projects, including hospitality, mixed-use commercial, renovation, and office spaces, from inception to completion.

Helen believes that design starts with responding to body and mind, as well as nature and society. This is based on understanding context and establishing a dynamic relationship between all aspects of a project. A holistic and appropriately composed order creates the beauty of a form, along with natural light, detail, material, and color. Together, they truthfully express the basic idea and lead to an understanding of poetic space.

Helen has been living and working in Shanghai since 2003. Prior to joining Perkins&Will, she was the founder and design director at Ares Partners.
