Julio Colon
Julio had an artistic inclination from a very young age. As a child, he would create storyboards featuring his own interpretation of the movies he saw when he was eight years old, which eventually formed his passion for design. Born in New York and raised in Puerto Rico, he discovered the inherent roles the impact and influence of different cultures have on their respective environments. As he engaged with his surroundings and formed a deeper understanding of the two cultures he was born into, he was driven to study architecture.
A scholarship from Pratt greenlit the path that allowed him to achieve his dream of becoming an architect, the role with which he identifies first and foremost, before anything else. Throughout the years as he was exposed to a variety of project types, he discovered that not only was he creative, but he was also a natural problem solver. The combination of the two led to his interest in technical design. At Perkins&Will, he was given the platform to have a voice and to develop meaningful, creative solutions to the challenges we face everyday.
