Associate Principal, Health, Los Angeles

Michael spent a great deal of his formative years obsessed with the PBS television show “This Old House.” Beyond the historical aspects of restoring the houses, he was engrossed by watching the improvements evolve; from visioning to implementation, every step of the way.

In his professional life, Michael is driven by collaboration—working closely with teams to plan, design, and deliver projects. He jokes that healthcare architecture found him, but in truth, it was the complexity and challenges of the field that drew him in. The healthcare practice keeps him engaged through every phase of project delivery. By listening carefully to clients, stakeholders, and end users, asking the right questions, and integrating best practices and research, he helps ensure each project results in a thoughtful, effective design.

Michael had the great privilege of devoting three years of his career to teaching at the SUNY at Buffalo School of Architecture and Planning. This break from traditional professional practice afforded new insights, strengthening skills that he has carried forward in his work to this day.

Each design studio offered him a chance to manage a team where 14 projects had to be completed at the same time, each at its own pace, in the weeks allotted. His devotion to creativity soared as he directed design projects where students do the making, showcasing his exceptional delegation and coaching abilities.
