Born in New York City, she has lived in the Los Angeles area since the late 1990s. Her background as a jewelry designer helps her appreciate the artistry of her colleagues in the profession. She believes that the work should have a long-lasting impact and benefit the common good. Shawn cites her mother as a source of inspiration who impressed upon her the value of hard work and the strength to overcome adversity. A breast cancer survivor, Shawn combines empathy with understanding in her daily endeavors.
An empty nester, she enjoys coming home to her trusty companion, her dog Joe, whom she rescued from a nearby shelter a few years ago. Shawn cherishes her weekends when she’s able to spend time with her grandson. She also enjoys spending time volunteering at her local public library as an adult literacy teacher, being part of a support system that works to help students secure jobs and seek higher education.
