Brian Spangler
Technical Director, Boston
For Brian, designing fire stations is personal. Long before he was shaping public safety facilities as an architect, he was serving his community as a volunteer firefighter. Since earning his Firefighter I certification in 2006, he has spent more than two decades in emergency services, gaining first-hand insight into the challenges, responsibilities, and camaraderie that defines the fire service.
That lived experience informs every project he touches. Brian combines a deep technical understanding of design and construction with an intimate knowledge of how fire stations operate. He understands that these buildings must do more than house equipment and personnel. They must support rapid response, foster community connection, and adapt to the evolving needs of the people who serve within them.
Known for his attention to detail and commitment to technical excellence, Brian champions solutions that are practical, resilient, and forward-looking. He believes the best design solutions honor tradition while embracing change, creating flexible environments that will support firefighters and their communities for generations to come.
